KOLKATA: Terming the recent action of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) as 'nothing but a stunt' in view of the ensuing Cricket Association of Bengal elections, CAB President Jagmohan Dalmiya on Friday threatened to move court to counter the board.

"One cannot remain a silent spectator... the judiciary is still vibrant in this country and if necessary, appropriate court of law will be moved again," Dalmiya said.

The BCCI had on Thursday sent a letter to CAB President stating that it was withholding all payments and subsidies to the CAB in the light of allegations of misappropriation of CAB funds.

In a strong response, Dalmiya described the BCCI action as 'highhanded and vindictive'.

The letter, written by the BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, stated that since Dalmiya had not given a reply to the second show-cause notice on April 15, the matter would be referred to board's disciplinary committee.

Dalmiya stated that a number of accusations had been made with regard to the bank account number 1223 at Indian Overseas Bank's Bhowanipore branch in Kolkata in the show-cause notice, but no supporting document was furnished.

"I wrote to the BCCI asking for inspection of the documents on which allegations were based. My authorised representative was asked to go to the BCCI treasurer's office in Chennai on May 5. The documents were partly shown and partly held back and an assurance was given that all the documents would be made available to me within a fortnight," Dalmiya said.

Circulating a copy of the minutes of the meeting on May 5, he claimed that the BCCI representative had inspected the documents at the bank randomly.
