Paes-Damm win Ordina Open

NEW DELHI: Top seeds Leander Paes and Martin Damm defeated Arnaud Clement of France and South Africa's Chris Haggard to win the Ordina Open doubles crown at 's-Hertogenbosch, Holland, on Saturday.

The Indo-Czech pair won against the French combination 6-1 7-6 (3) in the final of the 323,000-euro event to claim their first title of the season.

Paes and Damm were playing in their second final of the year and had lost in the first round of their previous six events.

The duo earlier defeated Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner of the Czech Republic 6-7 (7), 6-3, 10-8 in the semifinal on Friday.

The No 11 ATP Doubles Race pair started the season strongly, reaching the final at the Australian Open and semis at Dubai.

Clement and Haggard overcame Yves Allegro and Kristof Vliegen 7-5, 7-5 in the semifinal to post their third straight sets victory in the tournament.
