Bangla boy cuts classmates' throats

DHAKA: A Bangldeshi teenager tried to murder three classmates by cutting their throats to cover his tracks after stealing cash and jewellery from one of their homes, police said on Saturday.

 

The schoolboys, all aged 13, survived the attack and were in hospital in Dhaka although they were unable to speak due to their injuries.

 

Officials said two were improving although one boy was still in a critical condition.

 

Police said one of the boys told officers through written notes that school friend Jahan, also 13, and two assailants of about the same age came to his house on Thursday afternoon as he and the two other victims watched a film.
    
They tied the boys up at knifepoint and demanded the key to a cupboard containing around 200,000 taka ($2,857) before looting other valuables.
    
The three then left the building but Jahan returned and allegedly cut the throats of his three classmates.

 

Police have arrested two boys in connection with the attack but Jahan has not been apprehended.
