Victim was depressed because of illness: Cops.

Krishna Raj Joshi, the 70-year-old wife of a voice recording artiste, committed suicide around 5am on Friday by slashing her wrists at her Versova residence. Police suspected that the victim was suffering from depression because of prolonged illness. No suicide note was recovered.

The maid serving the Joshis found Krishna’s room locked from inside when she came for her daily chores at 6am. Alarmed, she informed Krishna’s husband, Raj, who was sleeping in a different room. ]

Raj called in the police, who broke open the doors and found Krishna slumped on her wheelchair inside the bathroom—a pool of blood having formed round her. They took her to Cooper Hospital where she was declared dead before arrival. It was learnt that the victim had often threatened to end her life because of illness. Family members, however, refused to divulge the nature of her illness. Krishna had three children—two living in the US and one in Japan. Raj worked as a voice recording artiste with various film units.
