Preity Zinta’s high court battle against a tabloid tilted in her favour on Tuesday, when the judge asked for a warrant against the proprietor of the tabloid.

The bailable warrant would turn into an arrest warrant in the event of him failing to appear before the court for the next hearing.

Preity said, “I am really happy with the decision... I feel triumphant. It has re-enforced my faith in the judicial system. I am not against the media. I know media and celebrities have to co-exist as they need each other. But I am against corruption in the media. I am fighting for my reputation in this male-dominated industry. I am going to fight till the end. And those of you who have integrity, will support me. I have not lodged a civil suit, asking for compensation. I have lodged a criminal case, because I want this to be proved false. Even today, after a year of them having printed that story, people ask me questions about it. When I was in London recently for a show, someone asked me about it at a press conference. Unless my name is cleared in this controversy, I will not rest in peace. They agreed to settle it off the court, but I did not agree. I really feel proud of myself. Even if I am the only person fighting for my dignity, I will do so. I need to hold my head high and this is the only way to do it.”

Preity sued the tabloid last year after they printed her name in connection with Salman Khan’s tape controversy.
