Actor Rakhi Sawant has filed a police complaint that she was allegedly molested by Mika, brother of singer Daler Mehendi, at a function on Saturday night.
Popular Punjabi pop singer Mika Singh has a band in Delhi called Out of Control Punjabi. Its logo was on almost every T-shirt at Someplace Else (co-owned by actor Bobby Deol) in Oshiwara on Saturday night, when events at the pub actually started going out of control.
Mika allegedly kissed item girl Rakhi Sawant (who is incidentally doing her brother Rakesh’s movie, ‘Hot Money’) twice in the lips. Rakhi alleged that Mika even bit her lips. Mika, however, denied the allegations.
It was Mika’s birthday. According to film producer Devina Lal, who was at the spot, Rakhi arrived around 10pm. “Both Mika and Rakhi were in a great mood. When the cake was cut at around 11.45pm, she joined in and gave the birthday boy a kiss on the cheek. After that, things happened so quickly happened that Rakhi left in a huff,” she said.
She said Rakhi came back around 1.30am with some people, including a few cops, shouting how dare Mika kissed her that way. In the melee, Mika’s security guard Tiger, a 7ft-plus, well-built man, allegedly hit Shez Woo, Sawant’s aide.
Rakhi marched to Oshiwara police station and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case against Mika under sections 354, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for eve-teasing and physical assault. The party had guests like singer Sunidhi Chauhan and music director Anand Raj Anand.
“I know both Mika and Rakhi. In fact, I had directed a Rakhi album long ago with Sukri, a singer from Dubai, and worked with Mika in Gubru. Whatever happened yesterday, I must thank Mika that at the end he handled the situation well and made sure families left the place safely,” said director Raj Malhotra, who was an invitee.
Appearing on television on Sunday, an angry Sawant demanded an apology from Singh. Meanwhile, the police is trying to trace the singer.
