What do you have to say on the controversy over Rahul Mahajan’s contradictory medical reports?
Unnecessarily, they have confused the good care the hospital has given. One was brought dead and the other was almost dead when we saved him. As for the tests conducted on Rahul Mahajan, after examining the urine in the first instance we had stated that there was no confirmation of the presence of drugs, though we did not rule it out. Even the path labs tests only later gave some levels.
So there is no contradiction in the reports?
While we have no doubt that they have taken drugs, we are not in a position to say what drugs they would have taken. The complication is that the police had the powder and here we were trying to get the result from the urine. Moreover, it is not that Apollo did the tests on its own. We sent the blood outside. I feel sorry that vested interests and the media have twisted everything.
Was there any kind of political pressure on your doctors or Apollo?
There has been no political pressure on us. Apollo is very straight in these things. You know of Apollo’s reputation and the quality service that it provides. There is no way politicians can influence us. Our interest is nothing more than to treat patients in the best possible manner. And in that respect we have served the person well and saved his life. You also know from reports that had it not been for timely response from the doctors, he would have died.
