Torontonians swooned over the star line-up that comprised of Bollywood hot shots like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat and Esha Deol along with a troupe of dancers, performers and musicians from Mumbai. Dazzling laser lights, electrifying performances and heavy techno-music awaited Torontonians, some 7,000 who attended the show that night.
Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor entertained with song-dance routines to Himesh Reshammiya’s music and were voted as the cutest couple of the year.
But, it was John Abraham who stole the show with beef, brawn and two left feet — girls couldn’t have enough of the hunk.
They screamed in frenzy as John called one Maria from the audience on stage and closed danced with her to a number from Jism.
What followed was straight from a Bollywood flick.
John had the girl sitting on his lap, even lie beneath him on a propped-up bed on stage. Just as Maria was about to faint in delight, he kissed her hands and handed her an autographed guitar.
He mentioned Bipasha many times while doing this.
Zayed Khan bounced, Mallika sizzled and just as the show was gaining heat, in walked Esha Deol with a smile that refused to leave her face.
Her smile seemed to say, “It’s my first show.” She screamed to Toronto’s crowd of several thousand, “Hello, New York!” She did not realise her gaffe, until a full five minutes later.
And, just as Air Canada’s white ushers asked, in hushed tones, if an Elvis clone was going to join us, since the concert was called “Rock Star” — in walked the greatest rock star of them all — Salman Khan. As the audience screamed, “Sallu, Sallu, we love you!!”he thanked the fans for their love and undying support the only way he knew — bare chested and full of it!
