KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday declined to prohibit exhibition of the controversial film 'The Da Vinci Code' in the state, but directed the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to reconsider the certification granted to the movie.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice C R Raman, directed the I&B Ministry to consider the review petition filed by the petitioner to reconsider the certification granted to the movie and granted three weeks time to take a decision in the matter.

The petitioner, Basil Attipetty, had sought a direction to the Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification, to reconsider permission granted for exhibiting the film in the state.

He said the film was a "distorted" version of historical facts and would "affect the freedom of belief".
