Dead teacher promoted in Orissa

ROURKERLA: A teacher who died a year ago has been promoted by the Orissa government here recently.

A promotion list of teachers notified by the government recently contained the  name of Chhitrasen Pradhan, who died last year.

Pradhan was in-charge of Khuntugaon government high school in Lahunipara block and had died following prolonged illness on February 23 last year.

Following his death, Pradhan's wife had been drawing his pension. His name, however, figured in the list of teachers who had been promoted.

Along with him, there were several teachers whose names also figured in the promotion list even though they had retired long ago, the District Inspector of Schools Satyananda Das said today.
