Civic bodies have been asked to fix water logging.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government on Thursday asked civic bodies to fix points vulnerable to waterlogging before the onset of monsoon.

"We have identified around 130 points in the city which face severe water logging during monsoons.

We have asked civic bodies to take appropriate action within 45 days so that people do not face problems," said Delhi’s Urban Development Minister AK Walia.

These vulnerable points are located in Civil Line, Shahdara, Rohini, Karol Bagh, Narela, Najafgarh, ITO, Chanakyapuri and Shahdara areas of the city.

"We have asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to deploy 75 diesel pump sets at these points during the monsoon so that water can be drained out," said Walia.

The authorities have also been asked to cover potholes on the roads and completely clean all drains by June 30.

Officials said that according to a study of the irrigation and flood department, nearly 3, 20,009 cubic metres of silt need to be removed from these drains and sewer lines in the city.
