MUMBAI: Justice H G Rohee of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday admitted a petition filed by Bharatiya Govansh Rakshan Savardhan Parishad seeking to stop illegal slaughter of four bullocks and fifteen cows bought at an auction in Uran, in the neigbhouring Raigad district.

The court has stayed the operation of an earlier order returning the cattle to the owner Vishram K. Jadhav, as once the animals are slaughtered the entire complaint would be rendered infructuous.

The cattle were seized from the custody of Jadhav’s ‘friend’ in the town of Pen.
