MUMBAI: Finally, it seems, Governor of Maharashtra SM Krishna has decided to hit back at Union Agriculture Minister and President of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharad Pawar.

Recently, Pawar accused Krishna of being biased against Western Maharashtra, from where NCP gets maximum MLAs elected.

Pawar said, “He should be loyal to the state which he heads as Governor.’’

Till date, Krishna preferred not to react. However, on Thursday, when a delegation of Marathwada Backlog Removal and Development Front called on him to request to ensure equitable distribution of state fund to guarantee uniform development of all the regions, Krishna, though indirectly, had a dig at Pawar.

Indirectly, reacting to Pawar’s accusation that he was biased against Western Maharashtra, Krishna said, “To me Indian Constitution is like Gita, Bible and Quran. And while implementing Constitutional mandate, I will use powers vested in me by article 371 (2) for the overall development of all backward regions of the Maharashtra.”

The delegation was led by Sanjay Lakhe Patil. It was pointed out to the Governor that backward regions like Vidarbha, Marathwada and Konkan had always been neglected by successive state governments that were mostly run by Western Maharashtra leaders.
