JAIPUR: Senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh suffered a mild heatstroke today while addressing an election rally at Khoh village.

Singh, 74, was examined by doctors and rested briefly at a friend's house in Deeg, about 225 km from here, before returning to Delhi.

Natwar Singh said that he was 'slightly indisposed' after being struck by 'looh' (heatstroke) caused by the intense heat and an empty stomach, and had to cancel the rally at Khoh.

"I feel perfectly alright and am returning home. I am fit to address more meetings," he said.

Singh said the doctors who examined him at Deeg had found his condition was 'ok'. After resting at his friend's house, Singh addressed other election meetings, he said.

The former minister had gone to Khoh to campaign for Congress leader Laxman Singh  who is contesting a bye-election.
