Five people died in a Claymore mine attack on Monday in northeastern Sri Lanka, local military officials said.

COLOMBO: Five people died in a Claymore mine attack on Monday in northeastern Sri Lanka, local military officials said.   

The officials initially said six people had died. A number of wounded were in critical condition after the attack in the port town of Trincomalee. 

The officials said the dead included four civilians and one sailor. Another four sailors were critically wounded and four civilians were also hurt, they said.
