MUMBAI: A Science graduate, Pravin Mahajan, the younger brother of Pramod Mahajan who is fighting for his life, was known to be reclusive and never mingled among the Mahajan family.

A resident of the second floor Jhanja Apartment at Damani estate in Thane, the Mahajan family here led a peaceful life for the last decade or so.

Married to Sarangi who hails from Nagpur, Pravin has twins -- Kapil and Vrushali -- studying in HSC.

Friends said Praveen had taken his family out for dinner on Friday night. The family had the habit of getting up early for morning walks.

On Saturday morning, before the rest of his family was up, Pravin left in his car, without leaving any message behind.

Due to load-shedding the family was unable to watch television and as his wife grew anxious she got a unexpected call from an acquaintance that Pramod Mahajan had been shot at.

She was shocked when she was told that the assailant was her husband.

Family sources said it was due to Pramod’s initiative that Pravin got a job at Reliance Infocomm. The kids who had gone for tuitions returned in the afternoon to hear the news.

They described their uncle as “good-natured, a god-like person” and hoped that ‘Pramod Kaka’ would recover soon.
