A major fire broke out at the Whirlpool warehouse in Wagholi on Pune-Ahmednagar road around 8.45 pm on Monday.
Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and it took the fire brigade personnel at least five hours to control the blaze.
Ramesh Gangat, additional divisional fire officer said that the fire broke out at the warehouse of Whirlpool of India company, spread over an area of 6,700 square feet.
The company keeps all the accessories and various parts of refrigerators like compressors, fan motors etc. at the warehouse.
“We had to break the warehouse shutter to enter the godown. After the water from our fire tenders was over, the company arranged for private water tankers. However, some of the private tanker drivers were reluctant to enter the premises fearing for their lives,” said Gangat, adding, just beside the warehouse the company has a well from where we lifted the water and controlled the fire.
