Dr Jamuna Pai releases her debut book, No One Has to Know

22 years ago a doctor with a dream of beauty in her very large heart embarked on a cosmetologist adventure. Along the way she became mentor to numerous leggy and not-so-leggy, blonde, brunette and black-haired beauties, some of who later went on to become Miss Universe and Miss World. Her modest clinic at Bandra, called Blush, expanded into a cosmetic physician’s empire and today, after a few false starts, she has written a book on beauty, a book that will benefit those who enjoy the sense of staying attractive within and without.
Dr Jamuna Pai needs no introduction, but her book, No One Has to Know does, since it was launched just a few days ago, amidst the kind of extravaganza that only Dr Pai would care to lay out. A sleuth of dancers underlining the importance of the cause of acid-attack victims to which the proceeds of the sales of her book will go to and Mandira Bedi, the blithe spirit of the evening rolled out the event seamlessly. The dance was followed by an emotional speech by Dr Pai, followed by a moving toast by Kokilaben Ambani, who was the guest of honour and who launched the book.
The book serves as a guide to beauty.  How do you use sunblocks or do you use them at all? How can your kitchen serve you as a beauty aid? There are tons of recipes. Ageing skin? You can’t reverse the process, but the book will tell you how to hold off time for a while. For the many who are still waiting to meet Dr Pai at her clinics, this should do as an interim solution. For those of us who have met Dr Pai and benefitted, the book serves as the constant doctor.
