A witness in the 2007 kidnap and murder case of 16-year-old, Adnan Patrawala, today deposed before a Sessions Court that he had overheard discussion of the accused allegedly hatching the conspiracy.

The witness, Dylan Dias identified the four accused who have been arrested - Ayush Bhatt, Sujit Nair, Rajeev Dhariya and Amit Kaushal - in the court.

The four have been charged with kidnapping and then murdering Patrawala on August 19, 2007.

Dylan told the court that he was acquainted with the accused as they used to play games together at Inorbit Mall in suburban Malad. "On August 16, 2007 I overheard the accused saying they should kidnap Patrawala since his father is rich and can pay them a good ransom," Dylan said.

He, however, did not act upon it till three days later when he saw news reports of Patrawala’s death.

According to the prosecution, on the day of the alleged incident, Patrawala had taken his father’s Skoda car and left for an undisclosed location after receiving a call from a friend.

Later his father received a call for a ransom of Rs2 crore. Eventually, Patrawala’s body was found in the car on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai.
