A witness today deposed before the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court, which is conducting the trial in the July 2006 Mumbai train blasts case.

The witness (name not disclosed) said that Mohammed Faisal Shaikh - an accused - used to attend meetings of SIMI and urge fellow members to wage `jihad'.

The witness  also said that Faisal had told him about his trip to Pakistan and said that he (Faisal) had been trained by Lashkar-E-Taiba.

The witness is likely to be cross-examined tomorrow.

Seven bombs, kept in the first class coaches of Mumbai's suburban trains, exploded on July 11, 2006, killing 188 people and injuring 817 others.

While 13 persons were arrested, 14 others are still absconding.

The examination of witnesses resumed after a gap of two years as the Supreme Court had stayed the trial in 2008, and vacated the stay last year.
