Unlike those who turn to God during unhappy times, school teacher Sandra Lobo ended up questioning her faith when she lost her husband and her only child in a car accident a few years ago.

She then stumbled upon a song — ‘God is Good All the Time’ — by Don Moen, American singer and producer of Christian worship music. “The lyrics changed the way I look at the world. They brought meaning and peace in my life,” adds Lobo, who now finds solace in volunteer work.

Moen is a known name in most Christian households and his songs are sung at convent schools and churches all over the world. On Thursday, the singer’s soothing voice resonated across the wards of Shanti Avedna Ashram, a hospice for terminally ill cancer patients in Bandra.

Moen prayed and sang devotional songs with the inmates. “He has the sweetest voice I have ever heard,” says Usha, a bedridden patient at the hospice. “Even our relatives don’t have much time for us now,” she adds.

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who recently lost her aunt to cancer, was also present and translated Moen’s words in Hindi.

“I am moved by the response my music is getting in India,” says the singer, who was surprised that his songs have been translated in several Indian languages.

“Though I don’t follow any of the words, I know it’s my song since the tune remains the same. I am overwhelmed that ‘God Will Find A Way’ is immensely popular here,” says Moen, who performed in Chennai and Shillong before arriving in Mumbai.

Moen will perform along with his eight-member band at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra on Saturday.
