In an incident of road rage, two members of the national shooting squad, Omkar Singh,27, and Shweta Ramesh Chowdhari,25, were allegedly manhandled by a man and elderly woman in Baner area on Sunday night.

Shweta registered a complaint with the Chatuhshrungi police station. According to the police, the incident took place at around 8.30 pm near Food Plaza on Baner Road, when the two were on their way back to the Balewadi sports complex with another member of the national shooting squad in a car.

Police sub-inspector MN Walekar told DNA, “The complainant told us they were on a narrow patch of road when a red Skoda car (MH12 AN-2000) started moving alongside them, making it difficult for Shweta to drive the car. For some distance, the Skoda car was unnecessarily driven parallel to theirs.

”They were overtaken from the left and the car stopped in front of them. First, a man in his 30s got out and started abusing them. Later a woman came out of the car and slapped Shweta. The man too slapped her. A scuffle followed. The man hit her on the face and chest, Walekar added. After registering the case on Monday, the police tried to trace the suspects and came up with two addresses.

Walekar said, “We will take appropriate action against the suspects after interrogating them.”
