While Rohit Aggarwal had planned to make a trip to Singapore memorable for his wife, Neem holidays, true to its name, turned their experience into a bitter one. While they cannot bring those days back and repair the damages, the Mumbai District Suburban Consumer Disputes Redressal forum has helped the couple make up for their financial losses to a certain extent and asked their travel planners to pay them Rs35,000.

According to the complaint made to the redressal forum, Aggarwal booked a ten days tour package with Neem Holidays for a trip to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and paid an amount of Rs1,02,2000. While the couple reached Singapore as per schedule, they were taken aback to know that they has not been accommodated in Hotel Cityclub as promised. Instead, their plan was rescheduled and they were immediately taken out for site-seeing. Aggarwal complained that due to the sudden change, their luggage was left behind and goods worth Rs50,000 went stolen.

While Aggarwal demanded a compensation of Rs1,50,000 with 18% interest, president of the forum, JL Deshpande and member VG Joshi, observed that since the couple had already boarded the flight and availed other benefits, the compensation granted was well suited for the loss and harassment borne.

When contacted, the manager of Neem Holidays Sanjay Aggarwal, denied being aware of any such complaint sent to them or the consumer court.
