In the first incident, a woman Vaishali Vishnu Jadhav, a resident of Yavatmal, developed labour pains as her Andheri-CST harbour line local train reached CST station on platform number 2 at around 1:30 pm.

A railway constable Shobha Mote and a commuter Siddarth Kumar, who claimed to be a doctor in the crowd, came to aid the woman in labour and successfully delivered a baby girl at the station. The woman and her baby were later shifted to a government hospital, railway police confirmed the incident.

Close on the heels of the first incident, a commuter delivered a baby boy at Borivli station. Western Railway officials said that commuter, Reshma C Gamre, a resident of Santosh Bhuvan in Nallasopara, was at Borivli station’s platform 2, when she complained of severe labour pains.

Gamre was accompanied by her mother who was taking her to the hospital for a regular check-up. When it was understood that the baby would not wait, Gamre was aided by the railway staff and police and delivered a baby boy. Her mother said that they were going to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivli, when the incident occurred. The WR administration confirmed the incident.
