Shiv Sena demands CID probe in Beed rape case

Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe today  demanded a CID probe into rape of a 17-year-old girl who also tried to commit suicide after the incident.

The Shiv Sena leader, who met the victim at Beed civil hospital where she is struggling for life, demanded DNA test of the prime accused Babulal Rasal, who is a deputy Sarpanch of NCP, alleging that the party had not yet initiated any action against him.

According to police, father of the victim would work at a farm of the prime accused and had a dispute with him. On April 4, Rasal and his aide Narayan Kale abducted the girl and raped her at different places over the next four days.

As per the statement given by the victim, after four days the accused took her to their village Surmapuri where the father of the accused forcefully made her sign on a bond paper stating that the accused neither raped her nor misbehaved.

On April 10, the accused dropped the girl at her Rampur village. She did not reveal what happened to her but on the same day she tried to commit suicide by pouring kerosene on herself at her home, said police.

Gorhe said a memorandum demanding CID probe would be soon given to mome minister RR Patil.

Coming down heavily on district guardian minister Jaydutt Kshirsagar and Prakash Solanke for not visiting the victim, Gorhe said that NCP was shielding the accused despite his heinous crime and the issue would be raised in the legislative council.
