RR, Pradhan to meet over panel’s report

The home department told CM Prithviraj Chavan that Pradhan would be taken into confidence for the effective implementation of the committee’s recommendations.

Home minister RR Patil will soon meet RD Pradhan, former bureaucrat and head of the Pradhan committee — appointed to probe the administrative loopholes during the 26/11 attack, to discuss the report submitted to the government.  

The home department told CM Prithviraj Chavan that Pradhan would be taken into confidence for the effective implementation of the committee’s recommendations. 

Chavan held a meeting of top officials from the home and police department to discuss the implementation of suggestions and recommendations by Pradhan committee. Chavan was told that post 26/11, most recommendations have been implemented and the loopholes fixed. Officials from the department said that modernisation of the police force was on the right track and the action taken report was being followed rigorously. 

“The allocation for the next financial year for the department will be raised to Rs750 crore from the current allocation of Rs500 crore. Almost all the recommendations have been implemented,” said an officer from the home department. 

Pradhan had expressed dismay over the apathy of the government for not inviting him for the discussion after the submission of the report. Taking a note of that the home department has decided to discuss the report further with Pradhan.
