Pune anti-corruption bureau to work on holidays with rise in graft cases

Concerned over the rise in corruption cases in Pune division, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has decided to work on holidays as well.

Pune division compromises Pune, Solapur, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts. People can lodge complaints pertaining to the ACB’s jurisdiction even on holidays.

Superintendent of police of ACB (Pune division) Sarang Awad told DNA, “Our officers are working on holidays for the benefit of the people. During the Diwali festival period our officers attended to work,” he said.

The devoted officer has been co-ordinating with the different government officers to curb corruption in the division.

“We have set a schedule for officer so that every officer would also work on public holidays,” he said.

In 2011 (till November 2) the ACB Pune has arrested three Class-I officers, nine Class-II officers. Last year 68 cases were recorded in which nine Class-I officers and seven Class-II officers were arrested by the ACB.
