Team Anna members, Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal, would travel to veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare’s village of Ralegan Siddhi on Sunday to meet the anti-graft crusader.

The meeting assumes significance as Hazare had earlier declared his displeasure at Bhushan’s statement supporting plebiscite on the vexatious issue of Kashmir.

Bhushan’s support for plebiscite was the cause for attack on him at his chambers in New Delhi on October 12, by members of the Bhagat Singh Sena. Hazare, while condemning the attack in his blog, had expressed his opposition to the idea of plebiscite and declared that he would be ready to take part in any war against Pakistan.

Another member, Kiran Bedi, who has been the focus of allegations of inflating her travel bills, would also be on the core committee’s agenda, which is to meet on Saturday.

The meeting, to be held in the office of Kejriwal’s NGO, Public Cause Research Foundation (PCRF), will not be attended by Hazare as he is on an indefinite vow of silence (maun vrat). Other core committee members, Medha Patkar and former justice Santosh Hegde, will also skip the meeting.

While Hegde has cited prior engagements in Mumbai, Patkar stated that her appointments scheduled in the Narmada valley would prevent her from attending the meeting. Patkar claimed she would be in touch with the other core committee members over the phone.

Denying any major rift in the team, Patkar admitted that a difference of opinion has crept up in the team, which needs to be discussed.

According to sources, the core committee would also debate how to counter the smear campaign launched against the team.

In particular, it would take cognisance of core committee member Kumar Vishwas’s Twitter asking for a complete rejig of the team. A source close to Kejriwal, however, negated any chance of a major reshuffle in the near future.
