The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) 19th floral-fruits, vegetable garden and tree plantation competition-cum-exhibition concluded on Saturday at a ground near Bhel Chowk in Nigdi-Pradhikaran.

The exhibition, which started on Thursday, contained different varieties of flower plants, salad decorations and flower rangolis that attracted visitors.

The PCMC’s tree committee organises the exhibition every year to promote environmental activities. The exhibition has evoked a good response from the citizens.

Over 225 industries, different social organisations, environment-friendly groups and housing societies participated in the event.

The PCMC had organised a competition in the category of residential and industrial plantations. The tree committee team inspected the gardens of the participants. A contest for gardens of housing societies and individual houses was also organised.
In the industrial segment for above two-acre plantation category, Sandvik Asia, Century Enka and Bajaj Auto won the first three trophies.

Smrudhi Limaye, a resident of Chinchwadgaon, said, “It is one of the most wonderful events organised by the civic body. It encourages women who take care of the plants like their children and keep our environment healthy.”
