Opponents maligning MNS, says Raj

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Tuesday said political opponents were maligning his party just because a member has been accused of raping a minor.

“Every party has rapists but it does not mean that the party ordered them to rape. What can the party do if someone goes mad,” said Thackeray while addressing party workers in Matunga.

“It is a political conspiracy to confuse the women and youths who stood behind us in the Lok Sabha election,” said Thackeray.

He denied that he had insulted meritorious students in Pune who gathered for a felicitation programme. “I have laid down a rule for myself not to felicitate meritorious students because I was weak in studies. It looks absurd if I felicitate students who score more than 90% marks,” he said.
