On Wednesday, an Air India (AI) passenger coach accidentally hit the terminal building at Mumbai airport. One passenger was injured. Air India Express flight IX 502 Trivandrum-Mumbai landed at Mumbai airport at 9.35am.

“All the disembarked passengers got into the coach, which was driving down towards international terminal 2B, Sahar, of Mumbai airport,” said a source from AI. “When the coach neared the terminal, its side door hit the girder of the terminal building,” he said.

At that time the hydraulic door of the coach opened and hit a passenger Sunil Kumar Paswan, 34, who fell inside the coach. The airport doctor was immediately called in to give him first aid as his leg got hurt.

“The doctors said that there was no fracture. But to ensure that the
passenger is safe our officials took him to Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri (East). The doctors took an x-ray and required tests and said that it was an injury. The passenger then went home on his own,” said the spokesperson for AI.

The spokesperson for Mumbai International Airport Limited said that the driver of the coach is absconding. “The vehicle permit of the AI coach has been confiscated,” he said.
