A week after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray published a ‘reference book’ to help aspiring candidates of the civic body polls prepare for the party’s written eligibility test, the Shiv Sena has come up with a counter-strategy.

Sena think-tank and senior leaders handling Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election proceedings have prepared a book of development. This 150-page booklet will be distributed among party activists to make them aware of the development works done by the BMC in the last five years. Senior Sena leaders believe that a collated document will provide enough intellectual support to party campaigners.

The booklet will be distributed through shakhas at ward-level meetings mid-December. It will highlight the achievements of the BMC in sectors such as education, health, and water and waste management. A powerpoint presentation on these achievements has also been kept ready. A special folder with all this material in it, akin to the one that Sena executive president hand over to his MLAs before the Assembly session, will be given to each candidate, which he or she can use while campaigning.

‘’Uddhavji has always said he wants to fight the elections on the good works that the BMC has done in the last five years. We are going to do the same thing. Once our activists get hold of this document, they can answer any question or can face the people without any fear,” said a Sena leader.
