Mumbai police raids hookah parlour, arrests 2 for serving tobacco

The police received information that the hookahs being served in the Sheesha Sky lounge restaurant contained tobacco.

The social service branch of the Mumbai police conducted a raid at a lounge restaurant in Jogeshwari on Saturday night and arrested the manager and cashier for allegedly serving tobacco in their hookahs.

The police received information that the hookahs being served in the Sheesha Sky lounge restaurant situated in Jogeswari (West), contained tobacco. A police team, headed by assistant commissioner of police Vasant Dhoble, reached the restaurant at night. “Around 300 to 400 customers were present at the hotel and some were consuming hookahs. We arrested the cashier and manager for serving tobacco in hookahs and violating court norms,” said Dhoble.

The arrested accused have been identified as Krish John, 35, manager of the restaurant and Bhagwan Varadkar, 40, who is the cashier.
