Christmas is the celebration of Christ’s birthday. This is a holy day on which to remember the life and message of Jesus and to resolve to shape our lives according to his scared teaching.

Jesus gave no quarter to mere external meaningless traditions and customs. He had no tolerance for dehumanizing taboos and sanctimonious behaviour.
Jesus taught that true religion is a matter of trust and confidence in God. However, Jesus insisted that faith in god must be manifested in the love and service of our fellow humans, without any discrimination and prejudice. According to Jesus, in religion, justice, compassion, human rights and dignity are more important than many of the external customs and taboos that go by the name of religion. In truth authentic moral behaviour, is a proof of true religiosity and faith.
In the present day of globalization, there are immense opportunities for peace and prosperity, which we all long and strive for. However, society and the nation are plagued by fundamentalism and terrorism, even in the name of religion. Greed, selfishness and consumerism and minorities are on the increase. Greed, selfishness and consumerism have brought about ever- widening gulf between the poor and the rich. About 40% of our people are below the poverty line. Our collective loss of responsibility has resulted in the dangerous spectacle of ecological degradation.
All this boils down to the decline of morality. Without morality, inspired by religion, our dream of peace and prosperity will not become a reality.
Let us therefore, with trust in God and love of man couple our efforts for peace and prosperity, with authentic morality.
