Two people were stabbed to death with choppers by a gang of three to four people under the influence of alcohol at Dharavi on Friday midnight over a minor quarrel.

Two people were stabbed to death with choppers by a gang of three to four people under the influence of alcohol at Dharavi on Friday midnight over a minor quarrel.
The incident took place behind Pila Bungalow BEST bus stop on Sion-Mahim Road at Dharavi. Rupesh Yeloshakti, 29, resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar at Dharavi, along with his two friends-Mohan Shinde, 34, and Datta Jadhav, 29, was on his way home when a gang under the influence of alcohol, intercepted their way and started abusing and quarrelling with the trio.
When Shinde tried to intervene, one of them, in a fit of anger, whipped out a chopper and assaulted Shinde on his abdomen and back. Shinde who sustained sever injuries, collapsed in a pool of blood. Then also assaulted Jadhav with chopper and fled from the spot.
Yeloshakti who managed to run, screamed for help. “Acting on a tip-off, the police rushed to the spot and took the injured to Sion Hospital where they were declared dead on admission,” said Rajendra Patil, a senior police inspector of Dharavi police station. He added that the police have identified the murders. However, no arrests have been made so far.
