An agriculturist and social worker Anil Kale, 35, from Baramati has sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar for allegedly providing false information in his affidavit before the Election Commission (EC).

Kale has filed a petition seeking criminal action against Pawar. “Submitting wrong information on government website misleads citizen about his qualification,” said Patil. Kale's petition alleges that Pawar's affidavit dated September 23, 2009, before the EC has made several wrong statements about his assets. His advocate VP Patil said the official government website shows that Pawar is a BCom when his affidavit before the EC shows that he is SSC pass.

Kale has also alleged that he had filed for nomination in the 2009 assembly elections but was threatened to withdraw. “Pawar pressurised and threatened (Kale) through Shivaji Kale, a close associate of his (Pawar) to withdraw the nomination. The Petitioner submits that he was helpless in the matter due to pressures,” states the petition.

Kale claimed that he had lodged a complaint with the EC on April 7, 2011 and with the senior police inspector of Baramati about the threat given by Pawar. The complaint also mentioned that Pawar was cheating the EC.
