A 23-three-year-old person was killed by a group of people at Trombay for allegedly teasing and quarrelling with a woman on Sunday night.

According to Trombay police, the deceased, identified as Sunil Mohan Kuvadan alias Anta, got into an argument with one Rakhi Patne, 33, during a Holi function on Sunday evening. It led to a quarrel between the two, and Anta allegedly abused Rakhi. A few hours later, Anta was called by Rakhi’s husband and brothers. They allegedly killed him with the help of a few others.

After Anta left the spot, Rakhi had lodged a complaint against him at Deonar police station.  Around midnight, Anta received a call on his mobile phone. He told his friends that Pradeep Somvanshi, 24, one of the accused, had called him and his friend Gafaar to Govandi bridge to settle the issue. When Anta and his friends reached the spot in Ashok Nagar, Somvanshi, his accomplice Nilesh Thakur, 29 and another accused were waiting there.

Thakur called up Rakhi’s brother Kamlesh. Kamlesh reached the spot with his younger brothers Yogesh, Sohan, and Rakhi’s husband Anand Patne. There were eight to ten other people with them carrying sharp weapons, iron rods and sticks. They attacked Anta killing him on the spot. The accused then threatened Anta’s friend, the complainant who was present there, with dire consequences if the incident was reported.

The accused fled from the spot and took shelter in the slums at Trombay. They were arrested on Monday evening.
