Ashok Chavan heads the State, with his 38-member council of ministers. The two-tier government has 27 Cabinet ministers and 11 ministers of State.

Following are the Maharashtra Cabinet ministers:

1) Ashok Chavan, chief minister
Portfolio: General Administration, Information and Publicity, Urban Development, Urban Land Ceiling, Housing, Slum Improvement, House Repairs and Reconstruction, Mines, Cultural Affairs and other departments, parts of departments or subjects not specifically allotted to any minister.

2) Chhagan Bhujbal, deputy chief minister
