The state unit of All India LPG Distributors Federation has taken an initiative to become more ‘customer-friendly’.

It would be organising a two-day convention from July 2 in the city to discuss ways and means to bridge the gap between customers and domestic LPG distributors.

The president of the state unit of the federation, Usha Poonawalla, told reporters on Friday that during the convention, deliberations would take place how to plug the loopholes between the distributors and customers so that the quality of service rendered to the latter could be improved.

“It is the responsibility of the federation to enhance a better co-ordination between distributors and customers.

The convention intends to connect with the distributors from the grass-roots level and thus suggest measures to improve the service to the customers,’’ Poonawala said.

According to her, many commercial costumers use domestic LPG cylinders in order to evade paying the high price of commercial cylinders. Such practices need to be stopped at once.

The federation has also come up with banners warning against such illegal practices that they will be distributing to the company offices and the distributors’ offices.

In reply to a question, Poonawala assured that new connections will be given by the distributors. “But we need to serve the existing customers first,’’ she added.

The other discussions that are supposed to take place in the convention include marketing strategies and customer service schemes.
