Under pressure to solve the murder of investigative journalist J Dey, the entire police administration is summoning all those officers for investigation who have worked in the police station in and around Powai in the past.

The reason being that by the virtue of being posted there, these officers would have possibly developed ground level local contacts, which can help the police in solving the case.

According to sources, all the police personnel who have earlier worked in Sakinaka, Powai, MIDC, Andheri police stations, apart from other policing units, are being called and their help is being taken for the investigation.

The role of these officers is to reactivate their old contacts and try to extract as much information about the accused as possible.

Sources said that these officials are being relieved of their normal duties and have been told to concentrate only on finding the accused who have been untraceable even a week after the incident.

Dey, an investigative editor with Mid Day, was shot dead by four unidentified motor-borne assailants near D’ Mart mall in Powai on Saturday afternoon.

He was declared dead when brought to Hiranandani hospital. The city police, who went all out to crack the case, are still said to be clueless and have not been able to make any head-way in the probe.
