Health official in hospital

Dr PH Chavan, joint director of health services, was admitted to the Sassoon General Hospital on Tuesday at 1.30 pm after he complained of chest pain and dizziness. He was admitted in the medical intensive care unit (MICU).

Dr P Pawar, medical superintendent of Sassoon Hospital, said that Chavan’s condition was stable. He said that Chavan was under lot of stress when he was brought to the hospital.

Chavan e was reportedly under lot of tension following the death of 14-year old Reeda Shaikh on Monday due to the H1N1 virus. “Hopefully he will be discharged in a day or two. He was complaining of chest pain, tension, stress and dizziness,” said Dr Arun Jamkar, dean of the hospital.

Earlier in the day, several MNS activists had barged into the Central Building, where Chavan sits, to protest against the teen’s death.
