Jigmet Wangchuk of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) wins the Kodak Film School Cinematography National Competition.

The third year cinematography student won the award at the Kodak Film School Competition for a Zalina Gamat directed FTII diploma film Urnanaabh, which was shot entirely on Kodak Color Vision3 5219 (500T). Famous cinematographer Amitabha Singh judged the competition. Urnanaabh was chosen from a total of 22 entries from across India.

Singh said, “I felt Wangchuk had approached the central creative thought of the film with a lot of maturity, imagination, consistency and care. The visual language of the film added suitable dimension to Urnanaabh so that the film could grow on its audience subtly through evocative images and imagination.”

Urnanaabh tells the tale of a tattoo artist who faces a creativity block and develops an unusual connection with the lady who cleans his studio, and draws a parallel between her life and his.
