There's nothing like a good run to beat examination blues. Titiksha Singh nods vigorously in agreement. She will be sitting her ICSE mathematics board examination on Monday. But unlike many of her peers who have their nose deep down in their books, she decided to be a part of the DNA's I Can Women’s Half Marathon on Sunday.

"It was difficult to get time to practice between revisions for the board examinations. But I was determined to run for two reasons: I wanted to support the cause of education of the girl child and also because a marathon is a good way to beat examination stress. I took regular breaks to train for the marathon. It kept me refreshed during examinations," says the student of Vishwajyot High School, Kharghar.

Singh had the company of several students. Two dozen students of St Andrew's College in Bandra ran the 5-km fun run; a group of 25 final-year BBM and BCom students who are  gearing up for their examinations in April, reached the venue an hour-and-a-half before the race was flagged off. Rosetta Fernandes, a final-year banking and insurance student from the college, says, "We are knee-deep in books. But, we still came to have fun and to de-stress." The young collegians were supporting the cause of the safety of women at the workplace. Lydia D'Cunha, another banking and insurance student, says through the race, she wants to "prove that women can do all things which men can do."
