In two separate incidents on Thursday afternoon, a 24-year-old inebriated youth stabbed two men, and two brothers were thrashed badly by ten people with cricket bats and rods. Though nobody was killed, the victims sustained grievous injuries and are recuperating in private hospitals.

According to the police, the first incident occurred at around 3.30pm in a colony in Borivli. As residents played Holi around them, Raju Sahani was engaged in a verbal spat with his colleague. When a friend, Sunil Yadav, 18, attempted to stop them, Sahani became enraged and stabbed him in the abdomen.

“Yadav’s friend, Deepak Bind, had witnessed the incident, so Sahani stabbed him as well in the stomach,” said senior police inspector Suresh Kilje of the MHB police station. “Sahani was drunk, and we have arrested him for attempt to murder.”

According to police, in the second incident, Chaitanya Bhandari, 24, and his younger brother Nikesh were eating snacks in Charkop while a group of people objected to the brothers occupying the seats and entered into an argument.  “The argument soon escalated into a brawl,” said inspector Pravin Patil.
