Director of College of Engineering Pune said that strict disciplinary action is being taken against engineering professor Kunjir, who is embroiled in a domestic war with his alleged second wife.
Director of College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) Anil Sahastrabuddhe has said that strict disciplinary action is being taken against engineering professor Chandrakant Kunjir, who is embroiled in a domestic war with his alleged second wife, Sheetal and has filed complaints against her for stealing his car as well as sperm donated to a sperm bank.
In his police complaint, Kunjir claimed answer papers of BTech students were also kept in the stolen car, which irked CoEP officials as they weren’t informed for two months about the missing papers.
Following threats of disciplinary action and re-exams, Kunjir assured CoEP officials that the stolen papers were within his reach and claimed to have got them back in less than a week.
“We suspect that he hadn’t lost the papers in the first place.
Whatever statements he has made are only to the media and police. Every time we read newspapers to know of developments and it is disturbing as the matter concerns our institution’s reputation. This behaviour is unacceptable and a detailed probe is being carried out. However there shall definitely be disciplinary action against him,” said Sahastrabuddhe.
He added that CoEP expects him to return the evaluated answer papers within a week but they haven’t yet received them.
“We didn’t know the papers were lost and now that they are allegedly found, we are yet to get the evaluated answer books returned. So we don’t know anything conclusively yet,” he added.
It may be noted that besides his post at the engineering college, Kunjir has previously been a member of University of Pune’s academic council as well as an administrator of state’s Shikshan Shulka Samiti and is well known in academic circles.
