Congress-NCP five, Shiv Sena-BJP four and JanSurajya one

In Kolhapur district, out of 10 assembly seats Congress-NCP alliance won five seats, Shiv Sena-BJP four and Jan Surajya Shakti party bagged one seat in the assembly election which was held on 13 October.

Shiv Sena-BJP  won four seats in the district. For the first time BJP bagged one seat from Ichalkaranji, while Shiv Sena opened its account from Karveer and Hatkanangale (SC) seats.

NCP won all the three seats which were contested from Kagal, Chandgad and Radhanagari.

Congress party got only two seats from Kolhapur (South) and Shirol while Jansurajya Shakti party won one seat from Shahuwadi.

Out of 11 sitting MLA's who contested the election five retained their seats while six MLA's lost.

Congress party candidate Satej alias Bunty Patil retained his seat, while Malojiraje, Prakash Awade and PN Patil all MLAs lost their seats.

Former MLA Appasaheb alias SR Patil won from Shirol defeating the Congress nominee.

From NCP three sitting MLA's won again including Baba Kupekar, Hassan Mushriff and KP Patil, while JSS chief Vinay Kore retained his seat.

All the four newly elected MLA's are from Shiv Sena and BJP. Sena's Rajesh Kshrirsagar, Chandradeep Narke and Sujit Manchekar (all Sena) and BJP's Suresh Halvankar contested for the first time and won the poll.
