General Motors India launched the diesel version of Chevrolet Beat in Pune, pricing the car at a starting price of Rs4.29 lakh.

General Motors (GM) India on Wednesday launched the diesel version of Chevrolet Beat in Pune, pricing the car at a starting price of Rs4.29 lakh.
GM-India claims the car, manufactured at its Talegaon facility, delivers a mileage of 24 km per litre.
GM-India president and managing director, Karl Slym, said, “We are confident that with its best-in-segment design, performance and safety, the Beat (diesel) will be a new industry benchmark and be a winner with local car buyers.’’
The car will be available in four variants, Beat diesel PS, Beat diesel LS, Beat diesel LT and Beat diesel LT.
The high end variant will also feature ABS and air bags, among others. The new Beat diesel is powered by an XSDE Smartech 936-cc three-cylinder diesel engine on a strong suspension. GM-India’s vice-president (corporate affairs), P Balendran, told DNA, “The attractive pricing of the car is sure to attract consumers in India. It will definitely become another hit.”
