The wife of a 29-year-old IT professional based in the US — disgusted with her husband’s “kinky acts” — had got him arrested last month on charges of marital rape and forcing her to do acts of “sexual perversion”.

In the complaint with the Trombay police last month, she had alleged that her husband would often force her to indulge in anal sex, besides urinating on her face, often making her feel sick.

In his defence, her husband, Suresh, 29, has attached seven emails (love letters) sent by his wife which showed “her attitude” and her “interest in sexual life”.

Suresh, who has spent nearly a month in jail, had moved the sessions court for bail. He was granted bail by the sessions court on Friday.

The couple got married in November 2007. As per his wife, Rekha’s police complaint before Trombay police station on December 9 last year, her husband started torturing her sexually as soon as she moved to Fremont, California, in June 2008.

Rekha, also an engineer by training, stated to the police, “After reaching USA on June 8, 2007, my life became hell. Suresh started ill-treating me and sexually abusing me.”

Recounting her experience of what could be called sexual perversion, Rekha states that she was disgusted to the extent that lost her mental balance. Rekha states that she even sought psychiatric help.

When the couple returned on a holiday in November 2009, Rekha said she was again “subjected to perverse acts and perverse sexual behavior” by her husband.

She even claimed that her husband’s parents, who were granted anticipatory bail by the court, demanded gold jewellery from her and money for redevelopment of their property.

Additional public prosecutor Jyoti Sawant argued that since Suresh is based in the US, he is likely to abscond.

In his bail plea, Suresh claimed that he spent $8,000 in Rekha’s further education in the US. He also alleged that she withdrew Rs13 lakh from their joint bank account to her bank account in November last year without his consent and knowledge.

However, additional sessions judge RM Ladda granted him bail on Friday for a bail bond of Rs15,000 with a condition not to leave India. The court also asked Suresh to deposit his passport with the police and attend the police station every Wednesday.
