A BMW zipping through city roads usually draws attention of passersby, but not the way one did on Thursday.

Officers of the airport police station received a call from the employees of a petrol pump inside the domestic airport about a man who had forcibly parked his silver BMW there. The man claimed to be Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani’s son and the future prime minister of the country.

During inspection, the police panicked on seeing packets of dry fruits inside the vehicles. During the 26/11 attacks, the terrorists had brought dry fruits to sustain themselves during the siege.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad was pressed into action. After thorough inspection — and ripping the seat covers — no explosives were found inside the car. However, they did find a police uniform and a fake revolver.

Through the registration number, the police found that the car belonged to Andheri resident Ishwar Advani, 54.

“Advani came to the petrol pump at 9.30am in his car (MH-43-V-5353),” said an officer of the Santa Cruz airport police station. “He got into an argument with the manager when he tried to park his car there. He claimed that he was LK Advani’s son. He left his car there, saying he had to catch a flight to Delhi.”

According to the employees of the petrol pump, Advani was impressively dressed and seemed to be be rich.

Brijesh Singh, deputy commissioner of police (zone VIII), said, “Advani is not related to the BJP leader. We have registered a complaint against him.”
