BMC fills up 95% quota

Government organisations may be struggling to recruit posts reserved for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes (SC/ST), but BMC has succeeded to in filling up 95% of backlog in the last five years.  

Dr Rajkumar Verka, vice-chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Caste was surprised to find that only 229 posts are vacant. “It is a great thing that the BMC filled the backlog on a priority basis. In comparison to other corporations BMC’s performance is very good,” Dr Verka said. 

There was a backlog of 4,000 posts in the BMC and 3,771 were filled in last five years. The civic administration said they will fill the remaining backlog in the next month. The recruitment process is on, officials added.
